Rube Goldberg Machine

The Rube Goldberg Machine is a device or contraption that is more complicated than necessary. For example a self operating napkin (see center picture above or the video below. The Rube Goldberg Machine directly relates to the 7th grade content standard 7.1 sections: C13. C14. They explain potential, and kinetic energy, how simple machines work and how to create a mechanical advantage. The Rube Goldberg Machines start with moving, pulling, or pushing an object. This object obtains potential energy until moved. For example in this video below to start the mechanisms the little kid pulled a string to move the plastic man.
